The Ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as gods, and the Egyptian breeds of cats all have relatively similar features. The traditional colors for a Siamese cat were a sandy color and brown, although now the breed colors have been advanced through selective breeding and almost any color of Siamese cat can be bred. Siamese cats are a lovely breed of cat to have as a pet, as they require little extra work unlike their long haired cousins. Things that should consider before you purchase a Siamese cat as your family pet would include their maturity rate. A Siamese cat will become mature and able to breed at the age of 5 months, which is considerably earlier than most other cats, with this taken in to consideration, most vets will not neuter a cat until it is six months old, so you will need to keep a careful eye on your cat to prevent and accidental breeding of kitten litters. The other thing to consider when choosing a Siamese cat as a pet, is their voice. Siamese cats are well known for their noise. This is not always a bad thing, as if your cat is in trouble you will be able to hear it, however, the problem can arise with your neighbours, if you live in a built up area, your neighbours will not thank you for letting your cat meow in the garden at 3am.
